Girls Leadership Project

The goal of Girls’ Leadership is to expose young women, formerly in foster care, who demonstrate potential for great leadership to positive people and experiences. The girls work together with established female leaders, acquire skills from leadership retreats and workshops, and participate in civic and community events. By engaging in activities that improve selfesteem and cultivate personal growth, the girls are able to break free of the “at-risk” stereotypes and achieve higher goals.

SETTING THE EXAMPLE:
GLP LEADERS

GLC Mentors are women who demonstrate a commitment to their community, great personal success, and a desire to create a long-lasting impact. Mentors should be involved with or have interest in involvement in civic and community activities.

PLANTING THE SEED:
LEADERSHIP RETREATS

Each girl attends a girls leadership retreat at the Woodhull Institute for Ethical Leadership to learn from female leaders from across the country. The institute is designed to educate a small group of women in the practical skill to succeed in today's businesses, political and community environments. Girls are taught ethical leadership; professional development skills; and be directed to networks, mentors and resources that can channel their leadership aspirations into practical and attainable achievements.
